Overview:

Cryptotanshinone (CTS) is the main fat-soluble extract of Salvia miltiorrhiza, which appears as orange needle-shaped crystals. It belongs to diterpene quinone compounds. Most of these ingredients have three-membered or four-membered rings of ortho- or para-quinone in the skeleton. The structure makes most of them have anti-tumor, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and other activities.

Physical and chemical properties:

Orange needle-like crystals (methanol). The melting point is 184℃～185℃. Optical rotation [α]D-91.4°. Boiling point: 459.0±45.0°C (predicted). Density: 1.23±0.1g/cm3 (predicted). Easily soluble in chloroform, methanol, ethanol and other organic solvents, slightly soluble in water. It reacts with concentrated sulfuric acid to show red color. It is most stable when protected from light and in a non-solution state.
